What Would Jesus Do?

I went to the home of a dying woman to say mass for her and her family.  She is paralyzed from the neck down and is bedridden.  We set the altar up high enough so she could see it at the end of her hospital bed.  When it came time for communion, she wanted to drink of the Precious Blood of Christ from the cup.  She could not drink directly from the cup, so we used a straw to dip a drop onto her tongue.  I don't think that was lawful, but it did seem merciful and practical.  I may have to burn for this.  What do you think?

  1. Well, there is this whole issue about burning....... This week a well know priest said that the whole notion of hell was constructed by the church to control the masses. Also, what kind of a loving God would consign someone to eternal life in fire??

  3. So many ideas were constructed by the church hierarchy to control the masses. I think we can see by today's church attendance that people are seeing through many of those things. Father God loves you for bringing some peace to this woman and her family. Thank You for answering the question what would Jesus do so eloquently.

  5. Oh Father you have such a good heart, God must love you very much! You being a good priest of God would know better then any of us what Jesus would do. For me, the question "what would Jesus do?" Is relevant. Jesus could do this or He could do that; how am I to know. I DO know Jesus gave His body and spilled His blood for the forgiveness of sin. I know Jesus founded a church upon His Apostle Peter and, gave all His authority to the twelve Apostles, and promised those twelve Apostles that He would send them the Holy Spirit of Truth to guide them. This Church being endowed with Christ' authority and guided by the Spirit of Truth is what we've come to know as the Catholic Church; shown through the gospels and back by history.
In consideration due to earlier comments about hell, and that it is an idea constructed by the "church hierarchy to control the masses" is a pretty negative and uncharitable statement. Considering one is opposing a teaching that comes from the church Christ founded, gave His authority too, and is guided by the Spirit of Truth. Its seems to me that the church knows what it's talking about, and should be respected enough not to be accused of creating teachings for the purpose of scandal. Is there a hell or is there not a hell? What would Jesus say??? We know what Jesus has said. In the gospels Jesus speaks about hell more then He speaks of heaven; judge for yourself.
Fr. Terry, you're a good and faithful servant of Christ. You know the beauty of the Catholic Church. You know that the church teaches that we are saved through the grace of Jesus Christ, and His grace alone saves us. If (big IF) you think you did and/or know you did something that impedes you from being united from His graces then you can always go receive absolution in the sacrament of confession. That's the BEAUTIFUL mercy of God!!! Always willing to forgive and untie Himself (grace) with those who repent! God is love, and as every lover seeks to give love and be loved, it's beautiful!

    God bless you Fr. Terry
